A note about working with clients
Because Deirdre's House protects the safety, privacy, and confidentiality of the children and families it serves, current volunteer opportunities do not involve direct client contact. Volunteers support the mission through approved projects, events, outreach, collections, and behind-the-scenes activities.
Ways to volunteer

Volunteer needs change throughout the year. Some opportunities are appropriate for individuals, while others work well for schools, workplaces, clubs, families, and community groups. Contact Deirdre's House before beginning a project or collecting items.
Days of Caring
Community clubs, businesses, organizations, families, and groups of friends can contribute time, professional skills, goods, or services through an approved project.

Group or project-based
Center Care and Seasonal Projects
Volunteers help keep the center welcoming and ready for the children and families it serves.
- Cleaning and sanitizing toys
- Organizing playrooms, waiting rooms, and shared spaces
- Preparing seasonal decorations
- Bloom Care during spring and summer, including watering and basic garden care
Seasonal or project-based
Donation and Collection Drives
Schools, businesses, congregations, clubs, and community groups can collect items that support children and families throughout the year.

Before you volunteer
Every opportunity begins with trust
- Protect the privacy and confidentiality of Deirdre's House clients.
- Follow staff instructions and remain within the approved volunteer assignment.
- Do not photograph, identify, contact, or share information about clients or families.
- Do not enter private service areas without authorization.
- Communicate promptly if your availability changes.
- Complete any orientation or screening required for the assigned role.
Age requirements and adult-supervision requirements vary by activity. Some drives and community projects may be appropriate for youth groups when coordinated through an adult organizer.
Because Deirdre's House serves children and families involved in sensitive cases, current volunteer opportunities do not include working directly with clients.
