Learn how a Child Advocacy Center works
Deirdre's House offers internship opportunities in various program areas for undergraduate college students pursuing studies in social work, psychology, child advocacy, or related fields. Internships offer students an opportunity to learn about the mission, daily operations, and multidisciplinary work of a Child Advocacy Center and nonprofit organization.

The experience
An introduction to mission-driven work
Internship activities and learning experiences depend on the program, current organizational needs, school requirements, and the student's approved placement.
Child Advocacy Center model
Learn how a Child Advocacy Center supports a coordinated response for children and families.
Nonprofit operations
Gain exposure to the daily work required to support programs, administration, outreach, and organizational activities.
Community education & outreach
Depending on the placement, interns may support approved awareness, prevention, education, or community-engagement activities.
Professional development
Develop workplace skills through approved assignments, staff guidance, and exposure to mission-driven service.
Specific responsibilities, supervision, schedules, academic requirements, and any client-related restrictions will be explained before an internship is accepted.
